Purpose
The transformative technologies of social media are having a permanent and powerful impact on the mental well-being of today’s tweens, teens and young adults. This phenomenon affects girls and young women in particular, leading to anxiety, body image concerns, eating disorders, and other risky behaviors.
I have dedicated my time and effort towards building a safer, more confident world for today’s girls and tomorrow’s women. As a psychology student, I am working to create official resources and medical strategies to improve safety, well-being and treatment options for hard-to-reach teens and tweens.
As an individual, I’ve worked with the Wall Street Journal and other global media to help make social media companies accountable for their impact on our young girls and boys.
I’ve also worked with non-profit organizations, whistleblowers and other change-agents to help educate and inform both kids and parents on best practices for safe usage of social media and other digital resources that are a part of our daily lives and aren’t going anywhere soon.
With concerted and collective effort, we can make a difference, one child at a time. I’m happy to be one small part of those important solutions.
